2012 Geographically FIT (Forestry Institute for Teachers)

When: August 6-9, 2012
Where: South Central North Dakota

Enjoy the breath-taking beauty of south central North Dakota and join us on this four-day learning experience sponsored by the ND Geographic Alliance (NDGA) and ND Forest Service that will take place in a classroom on wheels. Step-on guides will interpret the landscape. Experts will lead tours to many amazing sites that put ND on the map while learning about the geography, geology and forestry of the region. Presenters and local citizens will provide participants with information and resources that will stir appreciation for the unique character and qualities of the people in our state. Expand your network of colleagues who are valuable resources in the job of educating our children. This ‘trip of a lifetime’ adventure begins (and ends) in Jamestown. Via the Scenic “Backway” highlights on the journey include the Danzig Honey Plant, Long Lake Wildlife Refuge, seeing a hazardous fuels reduction project, Tesoro Refinery, Great Plains Research Lab, Crystal Springs and the Pipestem Reservoir.
