NDDPI-Research/Resources Report (RRR)

New Initiative – Monthly Research/Resource Report
The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act has brought to the forefront a new
emphasis on raising academic achievement, making Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP), and employing evidence-based practices. To meet these
goals, educators are constantly searching for research-proven programs
and methods to strengthen our educational system.
Time is a factor in all of our lives when it comes to getting work done,
researching new and better practices, and following up with innovative
ideas and strategies. Fortunately, there is an abundance of research and
resources readily available to educators today to assist with our efforts.
There are agencies and centers that have been specifically designed to
spend time researching and compiling an abundance of resources for those
of us with less time to spend.
The State Title I office is featuring a new statewide initiative beginning in
September 2007. Our office will generate and distribute a monthly report
which will summarize newly released research/resources on educational
issues relevant to North Dakota schools. This report will be disseminated
electronically to all principals, administrators, Title I teachers, and others
included in our Title I database. We realize that all personnel are very busy
and lack the time to search for new resources. The department works
closely with many of the education centers and is notified when new
research and resources have been released. Therefore, we will simply
compile this information in a report and disseminate it statewide, as well as
post it on our website.
The monthly Research/Resource Report (RRR) will be disseminated
approximately the first week of each month. Look for the first report to be
disseminated shortly after Labor Day.

http://www.conted.und.edu/ddp/idt
M.ED in Instructional Design & Technology
Earn your M.ED. in Instructional Design & Technology (IDT) online from The University of North Dakota. A master’s degree in IDT prepares you for service in education by teaching you how to enhance instruction and learning through the use of technology.
With a M.ED in IDT in K-12 or higher education, you can:
• Become a technology facilitator capable of designing learning environments that make intelligent use of technology in the classroom.
• Design professional development training for other teachers in your school, or at the district, state, or national levels.
• Work as a curriculum designer at all levels of the education system, focusing on the design of large-scale curricula.
• Develop online courses and other class/training materials for colleges and universities.
• Design learning for anyone, anytime, on any topic, and in any format.
Graduate Certificate in K-12 Technology Integration
Enhance your skills in instructional design and technology and move your current career in a new direction with a Graduate Certificate in K-12 Technology Integration. This option provides minimum competency in the field of instructional design and can be completed in just 12 credits.
The K-12 education track complies with the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) standards for technology facilitators, which are the most widely accepted standards for technology integration in K-12 education. This makes UND’s IDT program unique in North Dakota.
Online Program•
The entire IDT graduate program is offered online so you can earn your degree or certificate without interrupting your teaching career.
• You are not required to come to the UND campus at any time.
Nationally Known Faculty
• Dr. Richard Van Eck is an internationally recognized expert in the use of digital game-based learning with dozens of international speaking engagements and publications in this field and IDT.
• Dr. Mark Grabe is known for his research in technology in K-12 (he is the co-author of a leading textbook, Integrating Technology for Meaningful Learning) and for technology in large enrollment college classes.
• Dr. Woei Hung is known for his research in problem-based learning, systems thinking and modeling, and concept mapping and formation. He has won multiple awards for his work in IDT.
