Goal(s) Students will understand the responsibilities and joys of creating a CD.
Questions Answered
Essential questions: 1. What steps are needed to create a CD? 2. What are the best tools to get the job done? 3. How can I promote this CD? 4. What factors will determine how many CD’s will we need to make? 5. Who will need to help in order to complete this job?
Objectives: 1. Students will be able to identify the steps in creating a CD. 2. Students will be able to select a hero and determine how to honor him or her.
3. Students will explore the legal and ethical issues involved in media use and production. 4. Students will collaborate in a group project and learning objectives. 5. Students will achieve their personal highest standard of excellence in a finished product. 6. Students will increase public awareness in Native culture through music.
Assessment
What quiz and test items (e.g. simple content-focused questions that require a single, best answer) will provide evidence of understanding?
Students will be assessed with oral discussion with the teacher on terms and strategies.
What academic prompts (e.g. open-ended questions or problems that require students to think critically and then to prepare a response / product / performance) will provide evidence of understanding?
Daily preformance and and acedemic prompts.
What performance tasks and projects (e.g. complex challenges that are authentic, mirror the real world and require a performance or product) will you include that will provide evidence of student understanding?
Students will create a CD to be marketed.

A survey will be completed by each student in the Drum Group.
Instructional Strategies
Project-based learning strategies will be used to involve students in promoting cultural values and public awareness of Native culture. Project based learning will assist students in synthesizing their knowledge of the recording process, knowledge of economics and marketing. Students will investigate the importance of teamwork while opening the doors to design and production of a CD.
