What academic prompts (e.g. open-ended questions or problems that require students to think critically and then to prepare a response / product / performance)will provide evidence of understanding?
The student will design both a pamphlet and a poster answering the following questions and any other that they may conceive:  1. How is the drug used?  2. Who uses it?  3. The student will design and make a pamphlet and a poster designed from the information researched and present that information to the class orally.
What other evidence (e.g. observations, work samples, dialogues, student self-assessment) of understanding will you collect?
I will observe student’s work habits at the computer and help them stay on task so at the end of this unit they will turn in a Pamphlet, a Poster, give an oral presentation and write a written test on the information

Instructional Strategies

The students will use part of the inquiry-based learning and the project-based learning with this Unit. This project has the students locating and collecting information on their drug. They will have to interpret and write about the drug they have researched. They will have to compare the information they have research for validity. The students will then have to plan, organize and arrange the information gathered into a visually appropriate pamphlet and poster. The student will give an oral presentation to the class. The students will be given guidelines to follow as far a font size and acceptable fonts, but they will do their internet research and create their pamphlet and poster with guidance from the teacher when necessary.
