Enduring Understanding: I want my students to understand the purpose of having a bank statement reconcilation and why the bank statement is different than the company’s books. I want my students to know how to set up a bank statement reconcilation using a spreadsheet. I want my students to be able to set up a bank statement reconciliation that they can use each month in their daily lives or for their business Goal(s): Students will be able to effectively use a bank statement reconciliation.

Assessment
What quiz and test items (e.g. simple content-focused questions that require a single, best answer) will provide evidence of understanding? Students will answer questions and e-mail the answers. What academic prompts (e.g. open-ended questions or problems that require students to think critically and then to prepare a response / product / performance) will provide evidence of understanding? Students will answer questions on what is needed to prepare a bank statement reconciliation and e-mail the answers. Students will do a manual bank statement reconciliation. What performance tasks and projects (e.g. complex challenges that are authentic, mirror the real world and require a performance or product) will you include that will provide evidence of student understanding? Students will create a computerized bank statement reconciliation. What other evidence (e.g. observations, work samples, dialogues, student self-assessment of understanding will you collect? I will observe the students in the classroom and students will e-mail the results of their computerized bank statement reconciliation template and problem.
Instructional Strategies
Inquiry-based learning strategies will be used to answer open ended questions and by hands on experience doing a bank statement reconciliation. Problem-based learning will be used by having the students work in groups to complete their first reconciliation together with the teacher’s guidance. Project-based learning will be used as the students prepare their template and finished product. They will have group interaction and cooperation as they help one another with their templates. Their final product will be using their template to complete an authentic bank statement reconciliation.
